Badminton is considered one of the famous games in India. India’s capital, New Delhi has also given some of the gems to the world of badminton. There is the number of famous badminton coaching centers situated for the aspiring badminton players in Delhi which have been listed below.

1. UNITED SHUTTLERS BADMINTON ACADEMY:

Started in October 2011 by the badminton player couple Ajay and Manjusha Kanwar, this is the only academy in north India which is affiliated to Hyderabad-based Gopichand academy. The academy has 180 students who get training in various categories from Tuesday to Saturday.

2. MV BISHT ACADEMY:

Before she turned to coach in 2002, Madhumita Bisht was a famous badminton player who, besides being a national champion several times, won a bronze medal at the Asian games in 1982. She was in the core group of national coaches who coached the Indian badminton team for the London Olympics in 2016. This academy envisages making a substantial contribution to the cause of badminton in India.

3. SAI’s BADMINTON TRAINING CENTRE:

The Centre is run by the sports authority of India under the ministry of sports, the government of India. Started right after the 1982 Asian games it has produced many national and international level players. There are four experienced coaches, including chief coach pp. Singh, who joined in 1995. The low coaching fees of this Centre have attracted over 800 students who share 10 training courts.

4. DELHI GOVT’S BADMINTON TRAINING CENTRE:

The two Centre’s are running under the Delhi government’s sports promotion scheme. They conduct a trial and select candidates based on their basic skills. They even don’t charge any fee. While Thyagaraja sports complex has six courts, Ludlow castle sports complex provides four courts for training. Admission is restricted to Delhi schools students.

5. SURJIT SINGH BADMINTON ACADEMY:

After serving the sports authority of India as a senior coach for several years, Surjit Singh started his own academy in 2005. Though the academy is only seven years old, it has managed to produce players who have earned laurels at both at the national and international levels. The academy has a total of 60 candidates out of which 15 to 20 have been playing international level matches.

6. ARDOR BADMINTON ACADEMY:

With an aim to motivate more children to play badminton, Arun Khurana started ardor badminton academy in June 2011. Before that he worked as a badminton coach in the sports branch of the Directorate of education, Delhi administration, from November 2004 to April 2011. They use sports as an instrument for developing values, teamwork, building communication, and leadership skills.

TIMING: 11 AM TO 2 PM AND 3 PM TO 6 PM

7. DK Academy:

India’s glory at international badminton tournaments can be traced back to the 1960s when players like Dinesh Khanna were ruling the courts. During the 2010 commonwealth games, the same court was used by international players for the purpose of practice. It’s heartening to see the kind of promise that the budding players of my academy demonstrate.

8. DDA SPORTS COMPLEX:

Started in 2011 by S.P Singh, who has been associated with the badminton for the last 40 years, this training Centre has been popular among professional and amateur players alike. Singh was the secretary of the Delhi badminton association before opening the academy. There is a total of four badminton courts in the complex, which has 60 students practicing in various shifts from Tuesday to Saturday.
